Stephanie Miles, Ph.D.
Dr. Stephanie Miles joined the Foundation for Food and Agriculture in March 2017 and assists with FFAR’s communications and outreach. She is committed to promoting health, science, agricultural and environmental research through both scientific and public engagement.
In her early career, she managed social media and web communication for the Full-time MBA Program at the University of Iowa. Her interest in health and science inspired her to return to school to pursue a doctoral degree. In her academic career, Dr. Miles studied the strategic communication of health information. She produced a diverse portfolio of research including coverage of water quality issues in Iowa, nutrition information in rural newspapers, and the effects of social media messages on attitudes about mental illness. She was awarded the 2016 Dean’s Distinguished Dissertation Award from the University of Iowa.
Previously, Dr. Miles built her passion for strategic communication at Partnership for a Healthier America. Her responsibilities included writing for the web, managing the annual report, and producing videos.
Dr. Miles received her B.S. in agricultural communications from Texas Tech University, her M.A. in mass communication from Texas Tech University and her Ph.D. in mass communications from the University of Iowa.
