Making My Plate Your Plate Challenge Area
The Making My Plate Your Plate Challenge Area is focused on the fact that if the majority of Americans were to meet the USDA 2015 Dietary Guideline recommendations for fruit and vegetable consumption, our current capability to both produce and provide access to those fruits and vegetables could not meet these demands. This Challenge Area will focus on research that includes, but is not limited to, increasing the production and accessibility of fruits and vegetables with optimal nutritional quality and taste desirability, and reviewing system constraints that not only impede the incorporation of more fruits and vegetables into the supply chain, but also decrease farmer profitability and consumer affordability.

The Tipping Points Program is a new opportunity at the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) to build on the investments already made that target food systems within communities and regions. This program attempts to leverage the knowledge gained through these investments to increase our understanding of the complexities within a community or regional food system. The insights gained from these interventions and understanding their interdependence on each other can lead to sustainable solutions that promote health and increase economic opportunities.
