Jamie Nickel’s love of food and the community it fosters inspired her to build an understanding of food systems and the policy issues impacting them.
She joined the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR) in September 2022 as a communications & legislative affairs associate. In this role, she combines her loves of food and problem solving to support the Communications & Legislative Affairs Team in communicating its work to the public and legislative constituencies.
Prior to joining FFAR, Nickel worked as a legislative aide for the U.S. Senate Committee on Rules and Administration where she contributed to work on federal election administration reform, coordinated improvements to internal Senate processes and assisted with hearings and markups. She also served as staff assistant to Congressman Ed Perlmutter (CO-07), liaising with constituents, stakeholders and agencies.
Nickel earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from Indiana University. In her spare time, she practices yoga, tends her many house plants and cooks new recipes.
