As the interim chief financial officer, Ayers is responsible for the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research’s (FFAR) finance and accounting functions. Ayers works with the executive director, the FFAR Board of Directors and staff to analyze, manage, strategize and enhance FFAR’s financial position, while ensuring strong policies, processes and systems to protect FFAR assets.
Prior to joining FFAR, Ayers served as the chief financial officer of the United Soybean Board, a farmer-led commodity research and promotion board, for five years. Ayers also served another farmer-led commodity research and promotion board, the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, as the chief financial officer for nine years. Ayers brings over 30 years of experience in financial accounting, compliance and auditing.
Ayers holds a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington. Ayers enjoys working with organizations supporting agriculture and helping farmers tell their stories to consumers.
