Sergio Furman joined the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR) in April 2020 as the former chief development officer, where he served until February 2024. In addition to overseeing the Partnerships & Development Team, Furman lead the capital campaign for AgMission, FFAR’s ambitious project bringing data scientists, researchers and farmers together to mitigate climate change by dramatically reducing greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture.
Furman brought to FFAR a long and successful track record as a global fundraiser. Prior to joining FFAR, Furman was chief development officer at the Freedom Forum, working to educate the public about First Amendment freedoms. Before that, he spent nine years in the environmental conservation and climate change space, in leadership positions at Conservation International and the Wildlife Conservation Society. He has also held senior roles at the International Paralympic Committee in Bonn, Germany and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Geneva, Switzerland.
Furman earned a certificate in marketing management from the Graduate Business School of Columbia University, along with a Bachelor of Arts in commerce and economics, cum laude, from the University of Toronto. He has served on the Board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (NYC Chapter) and has presented at several regional and international fundraising conferences.
