Governments around the world are facing increasing and often conflicting pressures to address weather impacts, increase production and conserve soil and water, all while feeding their citizens. Experts debate whether conservation programs achieve these goals or simply pressure agricultural production to move to other countries. Meanwhile, U.S. public investments in agri-food research and development have dwindled in recent decades, despite a track record of producing technologies that enabled farmers to greatly increase yields and feed a growing population.
AEI, joined by experts and practitioners, discussed conservation programs, research and development policy in the wake of the policy actions and the upcoming farm bill.
