FFAR Welcomes Dr. Angela Records as Chief Scientific Officer

Today, the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR) is pleased to welcome Dr. Angela Records as the chief scientific officer.

Records is a plant pathologist with over 20 years of experience using science to develop solutions for global challenges. She joins FFAR from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where she co-founded and led the Bureau for Resilience and Food Security’s Research Community of Practice. During her time at USAID, Records led a team that drafted the U.S. government’s roadmap for supporting food security research initiatives. She further played leading roles in collaborations across U.S. governmental agencies, including serving as the executive secretary of the National Science and Technology Council-led Microbiome Interagency Working Group. She has published dozens of manuscripts in journals such as Science, Nature Microbiology and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

As chief scientific officer, Records will provide strategic and technical leadership for the Foundation’s food and agriculture research programs. She will lead FFAR’s Scientific Programs Team and will oversee the strategic visioning, design, solicitation, review, award, management and evaluation of a portfolio of research activities spanning the breadth of agriculture and food systems research opportunities.
