Katie Stahlhut joined the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR) in June 2024 as a science intern. She is working with the Science Team to evaluate the impact that FFAR’s research has had on the food and agriculture landscape.
Starting with a high school internship at a local botanical garden, Katie became obsessed with plants and their microbial companions. Now, she is a PhD candidate at Miami University studying beneficial plant-microbe interactions, particularly mycorrhizal fungi. Before starting her PhD, she assessed harmful algal blooms and green algae indicator species for the US Geological Survey.
Katie completed her bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Central Florida. When she isn’t juggling the responsibilities of her PhD and internship, you will probably find her at a local coffee shop with an almond croissant, her wife and her dog, Beau.
