Emerging Diseases in the Face of Climate Change

  • Panel Discussion

The Foundation for Food & Agriculture and the United Soybean Board are sponsoring a workshop March 18-19, 2024, to identify gaps and define options for emerging disease threats as changes in weather patterns due to climate change become more pronounced.

The workshop will draw on the expertise of public sector researchers in multiple disciplines, including plant pathology, modeling, weeds and ecology and entomology, in order to obtain a holistic view of potential disease threats, which could be affected by insect vectors and non-crop reservoirs.

Expected outcomes

  • Tools in hand now that could be used to understand and predict disease movement for diseases present in the U.S., and those that could be expected to move from the southern hemisphere.
  • Gaps in basic understanding of high threat diseases – disease mechanisms, life cycle and other knowledge.
  • Potential long- and short-term actions to prepare for new threats.

This event is by invitation only.
