On June 17, 2021, the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR) convened an independent dialogue about AgMission™ for the United Nations Food Systems Summit. Through a series of breakout discussions, the dialogue engaged farmers, ranchers, scientists and industry members in a candid conversation about accelerating innovative climate-smart practices.
FFAR, the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers in Action (USFRA) and the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) established AgMission™ to mobilize farmers, ranchers, scientists, data providers, stakeholders and funders around the globe to develop, implement and accelerate climate-smart farming practices at scales previously unimagined. The purpose of AgMission™ is to close the gaps in agriculture-climate research and data integration while accelerating the development and adoption of new and proven on-farm climate solutions.
FFAR convened an Independent Dialogue for AgMission™ to discuss and develop coordinated and collaborative strategies to reduce GHG emissions in the agriculture sector that will support a more equitable and sustainable food system. Through multiple small breakout discussions, FFAR and partners focused on defining the research gaps, data and support needed to achieve transformative collaboration among farmers, ranchers, scientists, industries and NGOs to accelerate adoption of climate-smart farming practices.
Food Systems Summit Dialogues are a critical component of the Food Systems Summit process. The Dialogues offer a purposeful and organized forum for stakeholders to come together to share their roles in food systems, consider their impacts on others and find new ways to partner in support of the Sustainable Development Goals. The outcomes of the Summit Dialogues will guide individual and collective action towards a future of food that is sustainable, equitable and secure.
FFAR will use the feedback from the dialogue and breakout discussions to inform the continued development of AgMission™. We look forward to continuing to engage with farmers and ranchers, scientists and industry as AgMission™ continues to develop and evolve. We are actively seeking additional funding and programmatic partners for AgMission™.
