Regrow Ag: Accelerating the Resilient Agriculture Future

Regrow is a multinational team of scientists, agronomists, engineers and software developers committed to transforming the supply chain from farm to fork to ensure a prosperous future for people and planet. Since 2019, Regrow and the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR) have collaborated on several impactful projects, including research on how to effectively use remote sensing to track the adoption of regenerative agricultural practices and the application of process models for estimating soil carbon and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions at field scales over large areas. Regrow provides its expertise in data analytics, remote sensing and machine learning to help identify patterns and insights in large data sets related to agriculture, while FFAR builds public-private partnerships to support audacious science addressing today’s food and agriculture challenges.

The effects of climate change are threatening U.S. food and agricultural systems. Helping agriculture become more resilient to these threats can be extremely beneficial to the success of agricultural supply chains. This means being able to recuperate from the shocks and negative impacts of climate change. Resilient agriculture applies regenerative soil health practices to achieve reductions in GHG emissions and proactive adaptation. Regrow Ag’s Resilient Agriculture Platform uniquely brings together verified real-world agriculture data, unmatched scientific rigor that scales, and integrated products that provide customers actionable insights.

Developing audacious technologies is critical to supporting the development of the next-generation resilient agriculture solutions. With FFAR’s support, our researchers are identifying effective regenerative practices over space and time. These research findings support collaboration and accessibility of data across the agriculture community. Dr. Bill Salas

Through the AgMission Initiative, FFAR is working with Regrow and two non-profit organizations – The Nature Conservancy and the Conservation Technology Information Center – to improve the accuracy of remote sensing of conservation practice adoption and make national-scale datasets publicly available. This work will provide greater transparency into the methods and algorithms used for processing remote sensing imagery into meaningful data layers and allow greater public use of high-resolution maps of conservation practice adoption for supply chain environmental initiatives as well as agricultural research. Regrow is also engaged in the Dairy Soil & Water Regeneration Project, co-funded through FFAR’s Sustainable Water Management Challenge Area, and is a Legacy Partner Member of the Ecosystem Services Market Consortium, co-funded through FFAR’s Soil Health Challenge Area.

By working together, Regrow and FFAR are demonstrating that public-private partnerships can go a long way in promoting greater productivity and profitability for farmers and accelerating the global transformation to resilient agriculture for the benefit of all people and the planet.
