FFAR and USDA Launch Request for Proposals for Site Host of the G20 Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists

Washington, D.C.

In 2026, the United States will host the Presidency of the Group of 20 (G20), an intergovernmental forum comprised of 19 sovereign countries, the European Union and the African Union. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), working with the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR), is issuing a request for proposals (RFP) for a suitable site host for the G20 Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists (G20 MACS).

Since 2012, the G20 MACS has been held annually to address the diverse global challenges in agriculture affecting people and the planet through joint agricultural research and innovation strategies. This prestigious event focuses on critical global research priorities, fosters international collaboration and contributes to sustainable global food security. The United Nations General Assembly’s declaration of 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer will be central to the G20 MACS meeting dialogue.

Through this RFP, prospective site hosts must demonstrate the unique value they can bring to the G20 MACS and the broader agricultural research community. Proposals should clearly articulate how the host organization will leverage their expertise in U.S. agriculture, science, technology, research and education to create a memorable and impactful experience for attendees. The host organization should also be prepared to engage a diverse range of stakeholders, including a consortium that may include universities, state and local departments of agriculture, Tribal Colleges and Universities (1862), Historically Black Colleges and Universities (1890), 1994-Land-grant Institutions and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI), non-profit organizations, private sector, philanthropy and other partners.

Interested site host applicants must submit a letter of intent to events@foundationfar.org no later than December 11th , 2024, by 5:00pm EST. Application details and requirements are available on the G20 MACS Request for Proposals webpage. Additionally, the USDA is hosting an informational webinar on November 25, 2024, at 1pm EST to share more about this unique opportunity. Registration is required to attend the webinar.
