The International Consortium for Antimicrobial Stewardship in Agriculture (ICASA), a multi-partner consortium created by the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR), today launched the ICASA 2026 Request for Applications (RFA) to solicit research that advances antimicrobial stewardship in animal agriculture. The requested research will provide U.S. swine and beef producers with practical solutions, such as new technologies and management practices, that promote judicious antibiotic use and improve animal health and welfare.
Preapplications are due by 5 p.m. June 10, 2026, EDT. On July 15, 2026, meritorious applicants will be invited to submit full applications, which are due Sept. 2, 2026.
Qualified researchers may request $100,000 to $500,000 in ICASA funds per project. Matching funds equal to at least 40% of the total project budget are required for this funding opportunity.
ICASA has been funding research since 2019 to promote targeted antibiotic use, advance animal health and welfare and increase transparency in food production practices in the U.S. beef and swine sectors. To date, it has invested $15 million in 31 research projects.
In 2025, FFAR, recommitted to ICASA with returning and new consortium participants, including the Beef Alliance, McDonald’s Corporation, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, National Pork Board, Pipestone Veterinary Services, Wholestone Prestage and Yum! Brands. This RFA reflects the consortium’s continued commitment to advancing antimicrobial stewardship in the U.S. beef and swine sectors.
Visit the FFAR website to learn about this RFA’s research priorities and how to apply. FFAR is hosting an informational webinar about this opportunity at 1 p.m. EDT on May 26, 2026. Participants must register to attend.
