Iowa State University researchers are studying bee and monarch butterfly populations to assess whether prairie strips in crop fields impact honey bee health and native pollinator abundance and diversity.
Grant OutcomeThis research demonstrated that prairie strips can enhance pollinator health, increase honeybee colony success and support native bee diversity without compromising conventional crop production. By pairing these findings with updated best management practices and farmer-focused decision-support tools, the project provides science-based guidance to help producers conserve pollinators while improving the sustainability of agricultural landscapes.
